Mike Malburg Hangs It Up
PENSACOLA, FL - 2005-06-20
BY JORDAN RACEY
After a prolonged period of non-contact with either his friends, fellow administrators at the Nullset, or even his family, Nullset webmaster and CEO Michael W. Malburg III has made his final pronouncement today in a press conference attended by no one. Its announcement was believed to be a feeble and sick joke, at the expense of a man believed by the world at large to be dead. Malburg's statements were as follows:
"I would like to say that at 3:00 PM Eastern Standard Time today, I will order the Nullset headquarters complex here in Pensacola to be sealed for the final time. I myself will be retreating into a sealed chamber a mile below the earth's crust, there to remain entombed for several centuries in a life-support device I have named the 'Golden Throne', where I will see to the furtherance of my World of Warcraft account and the cybernetic enhancement of my kitten, Nala, by a team of cyborg servitors. When my computer finally dies of old age and the power sources in my subterranean hall give out, I plan to have developed my telepathic powers to a degree that I will be exhumed by paranormal investigators and declared the Immortal God-Emperor of Earth.
I bid you all a good day, and I join you in mourning the loss of my involvement in what had the potential to be the greatest humor website and blog of our era. If only I could have been bothered to remember it once in a while, rather than leaving it imprisoned and slowly dying in the iron lung of sporadic, infrequent updates made by a lone admin exiled in a foreign country. Thank-you, and goodbye - Level Omega 8 awaits my approach."
The Nullset's remaining staff, Administrators Kevin Gerhart and Jordan Racey, had the following comments.
"You know that was just an android copy that delivered that 'final press conference,' right?" said Racey in an emailed response. "The real Mike was interred in the Golden Throne two months ago. He gave up long before this."
Gerhart was much more agitated, reached via cellular phone from an undisclosed location on the U.S. interstate highway system. "WHAT? NO! He can't do that! I actually went somewhere and did something! Outside of Mason County! I took pictures and everything! I was going to write an article! With pictures! And crap!"
Gerhart could then be heard screaming "KHAN! YOU BLEW IT UP! YOU BLEW IT ALL UP!"

Does this mean that Mike is now missing, presumed dead? Who will be the new Great Programming Blob? Are Kevin and Jordan willing to take up this challenge?

I`m not dead yet. I think I`m getting better. I`m feeling happyyy... happyyyyyyyyy!!
Yeah, no, interestingly enough I`m still quite alive and well. Just hitting the summer busy schedule. That and spending a lot of time (don`t laugh) trying to figure out how to pick out furniture and things for the apartment... yeah, more on that later.
Fear not, I shall soon be erecting a new website which uses updated technology - this may be this weekend`s project in fact, or a 2-3 weekend project as the case may more likely be. Anyway, I`m getting to it...

The .Net is Strong With This One - 06/27/2005 08:32:06PM CST (06/27/2005 09:32:06PM EST)

I am perhaps going to have to destroy Evan with the dark side of the .Net (C# of course). I do not fear the C# side of the .Net like those VB.Net programmers do! I will become the most powerful C# programmer ever!!

Archive Back, Rogan? - 06/28/2005 09:53:53AM CST (06/28/2005 10:53:53AM EST)

So when did this site suddenly start performing at non-butt-slow speeds and when did the rest of our archive come back? Has the Great Programming Blob rejuvenated our site as his final act before disappearing into the Golden Throne forever?

'Code that mother up.'
Sigh. It reminds me of a simpler time, when Mike invented humorous catchphrases, when Kevin was willing to transcribe his nonsensical rantings for all to laugh at, and when I actually used to be good at writing articles. A time when our site had people who read it. Sigh. The good old days.

The Case of The Missing Mike - 10/06/2005 03:08:01AM CST (10/06/2005 04:08:01AM EST)

I read it. And you guys are just as funnier, maybe funnier than I remember. Wouldn't mind seeing more of the guy myself. I think it's Nala, you know, possessive of "the clan" never letting him out of her sight, and eating any would-be competitors. Well more like lick-eat-lick-eat. The sort of "attack" that makes you go 'aww' 'ow!' and then back to 'awwww.' That's how she entraps us. How she entraps all of us. We... never... learn. Course if she was eating 'intruders' she would be a fat blob. *lol*
That and I'd come over more, but you already know that you're throne isn't gold, it's ICE! *lol* Two blankets, socks, pants, a skirt over the pants, a sweater, with a hood doesn't seem to help - I need something for my fingers and noses. Or some way to put a mouse inside my pockets. *lol* Maybe you should consider coming back to the land of the living. *giggle* That would be average temperatures like... 70? *jk*
