Thenullset.com Finally Gets Decent Hosting Provider

PENSACOLA, FL - 2005-03-24

BY MIKE MALBURG, SUPREME OVERLORD OF THENULLSET.COM

Thenullset.com has finally gotten some long-awaited decent hosting, thanks to soon-to-be Pensacola, FL resident and area programmer Mike Malburg, AKA "The Great White Programming Blob".

Malburg, who has recently been trying to integrate with his newfound life in the city, had this to say of moving to the new hosting provider,"Yeah, man, this shizzle is off the chain!  This sizzle is finally gonna be on a good hizzle pizzle minizzle!  Fo-shizzle!!"

<geekyCrap>

The new hosting provider will supply the website with more hosting space, and more robust language support, to finally move the ancient site into the 21st century.  Such improvements such as an ASP.Net rewrite using SQL Server are planned for the site.  Other geeky things might happen in the process, but you stopped reading this paragraph already so I won't go on.

Now that you have skipped to the next paragraph, we would also like to inform our vast reader base that the site will be down for a day, or a couple days.  Maybe even like 3 days, while files are moved to the new hosting provider and DNS changes are made.

</geekyCrap>

"Minizzle's will be all up in this bizzzle browsin this shizzle on such brizzles as IEizzle and Mozizzle Firefizzle!!"

when I thought the funny was getting put back on the internet I got really excited, and well, I guess I spoke too soon. I was looking forward to all the hilarious articles making fun of Mike and how he cannot properly administer his website. I was looking forward to at least 4 lists of the top 50 reasons why Mike sucks. I was looking forward to another article about all the wonderful things we learn from RPGs. I decided there are 2 possible solutions: 1 - the masters of funny lost their touch and have nothing to write about. (not likely) or 2 - The section you use to login and post articles is still broken. (very likely) so what I have decided to do is kill Mike until he fixes his website and I see a new article. Mike, for everyday that goes by and I do not see a new article, I shall kill you.

OK, so I did speak too soon. From what I`ve heard, these guys are top-notch in hosting ASP.Net / SQL Sever sites (which mine is not, for those of you that are not computer-flavoured nerds). Apparently though, this top-notch hosting does not extend to PHP/MySQL sites, despite the php logo emblazoned across their hosting page.

But I digress... it really boils down to this: I need to rewrite the site in .Net - something I`ve put off a long time now... Hopefully my OCD will allow me to not obsess over (code) design too much (yeah, right) and just knock the site out to be functional. And no, you cant have my code for free when I`m done with it. And no, you cant have this site`s code for free when I`m not using it anymore. I am now coin-operated (as a fellow coworker would say) =P

Oh yeah. and the time. Right. Uhh.... if you notice the timestamp as wrong... thats because the other hosting provider had a different timezone, and it was offset for that timezone. So.... yeah. I have to fix that... in several places.... because mysql 4 didnt support stored procedures or even anything logically like views... so... yeah...
I will kill mike 2 times.....so far - 04/26/2005 11:13:58PM CST (04/27/2005 12:13:58AM EST)

Mike! Are you really joining the dark side?
What ever happened to the virtous appender of doom who freely exposed his source to all those wanting a peek, and perhapse some who didn't?
I pray thee goeth not so farth as to removeth the right-clicketh and view sourceth option!
Hast thee lost thine way?
-- And so at last the beast fell and the unbelievers rejoiced. But all was not lost, for from the ash rose a great bird. The bird gazed down upon the unbelievers and cast fire and thunder upon them. For the beast had been reborn with its strength renewed, and the followers of Mammon cowered in horror. from The Book of Mozilla, 7:15
